The engagement had its start on a wonderful September evening. Tim started the night with a fabulous dinner at a fondue restaurant that was far too expensive for him. Through dumb luck, not good planning, they got a very romantic table in a dark corner. When the waitress asked them if they were celebrating anything special, Tim was very quick to answer, "NO."
After dinner they went to get coffee at the same Starbucks they went to on their first date. The two of them walked to a spot in Houdini Plaza in downtown Appleton. They had been to that spot once before drinking coffee, it was the place where they had their first serious discussion about spending the rest of their lives together. It seemed an appropriate place for what was about to come.
Tim told Ady just how much she meant to him, and when he ran out of words he stood up, pulled the ring out of his pocket and said the only words that were left to say, "Will you marry me?" Ady didn't even look at the ring before she said yes, and embraced Tim in a hug that seemed to last forever.
Tim and Ady got engaged on September 20th, 2005. By strange coincidence Tim's parents were also engaged 31 years earlier on the same day. Nobody was even aware of this until Tim's mom pulled out a charm that was buried in the bottom of a jewelry drawer. Howie gave it to his bride-to-be in 1974 when they got engaged and had the engagement date engraved on it. Myra gave it to Ady who also got the date engraved on it, but this time all that was needed was the '05.
